F1 2014 Schedule

F1 2014 Schedule

F1 2014 Schedule. As soon as it was announced, the F1 2014 Schedule sparked off excited chatter on the internet. Some termed it grueling, for there are an unprecedented 22 races proposed for. Some termed it taxing, as there will be races on three consecutive weekends for the first time in formula history.

Some others termed it as exciting, as Ferrari will have two world champions, Fernando Alonso and Kimi Räikkönen, in their ranks to challenge Red Bull’s recent supremacy. The Formula One’s governing body, FIA, has termed the schedule provisional.

That means there will be minor changes; but still, the 2014 season in all likelihoods will be the biggest in F1 history.

New additions

If the schedule is accepted without any changes, there will be four new races in the 2014 season: New Jersey, Mexico, Austria and Russia. From the 19-race 2013 calendar, the Indian Grand Prix would be discontinued.

Of the new circuits, Austria is likely to become a permanent fixture in the F1 calendar.

It will be the home race for Red Bull. Some even call it the ‘Rebonza’, in a parody of Ferrari’s home circuit Monza.

The New Jersey race too is likely to generate worldwide excitement.

It is designed as a street race. Who would not love to watch a race through New York’s streets, with the city’s skyline forming a majestic backdrop?

If the F1 2014 Schedule is accepted as it is, it will force the teams to restructure their strategies and even remodel their vehicles.

There will be a punishing schedule and a host of logistics headaches.

For the Formula One fans, though, the next year is going to be more exciting for more reasons than one.

How do you like the F1 2014 Schedule? What’s your opinion?

Singapore F1 2013

Singapore F1 2013

Singapore F1 2013. Up until 2007, Monaco Grand Prix had been the F1 race you must see, if you are going to watch only one Grand Prix race in your life-time. The first ever night race at the inaugural Singapore Grand Prix in 2007 changed all that.

Night-time street-racing in the backdrop of a spectacularly illuminated skyline of a bubbling metropolis can bewitch even the old-timer racing aficionados.

Right from its inception, Singapore Grand Prix races have been the flag-bearer of the globalized, new-generation Formula One, and its latest edition, Singapore F1 2013, is likely to extend the trend.

The race

The Marina Bay Street Circuit at Singapore City is just over five kilometers in length. The racers cover a distance of 309.316 kilometers over 61 laps. Kimi Raikkonen has set the fastest lap. He covered a single lap in just under 106 seconds in 2008.

However, Raikkonen has never won the crown here. Only three racers have won Singapore Grand Prix, which is just five races old. Fernando Alonso won in the first and third years, while Lewis Hamilton won in the second. Sebastian Vettel won in the last couple of years.

Sebastian Vettel seems to be in such sensational form that he can win a race even while sleeping, let alone a night-time race in Singapore F1 2013. He has been establishing a clear lead gradually at the top.

Alonso and Raikkonen have the best chances of overtaking Vettel. Raikkonen, in particular, would want to make his mark in a race that is likely to be the future benchmark of testing F1 racers’ greatness.
